One day my husband asked me to do a Breathwork session for Creativity, something I’d never thought about – which is kind of funny, because creating these Breathwork Recordings has been the most creative project I’ve ever embarked on… so maybe it was a *hint hint* from my husband (which, is pretty normal.)
For background, my husband is a very creative guy; he’s a website designer, creates digital art, can landscape, and even cuts hair for fun (he taught himself), among a myriad of other things, and in general is highly visual, so I was a little intimidated to begin. I loved the idea, though, and so I took on the challenge.
What is Creativity?
To start, I considered what Creativity actually was.
We all have friends or family we consider creative – they’re the musicians, artists of all mediums, writers, actors, etc. But what about the people who don’t play an instrument or create some sort of art? Are they creative too?
Maybe you’re one of those people who doesn’t play an instrument or do art, so you never considered yourself creative?
I believe that we’re all creative – we just express it in different ways. Creativity is part of our life force, and I would argue that, without it, there would cease to be inventions, and we would likely whither and/or become robots, highly functional but no personality, no individual Essence.
Creativity is expressed in so many ways – here’s a non-exhaustive list.
- Your clothes, makeup, and hair
- Cooking
- Video games
- Coding
- The way you love others
- Your sex life
- The way you speak
- Your routines
- Sewing
- Architecture
- The scientific process
- Reading
- Listening to music
- Quilting
- Podcasting
- How you drink your tea or coffee
- I could go on forever…
Everything you do is creative, the fact that you are uniquely you, is creative.
And though we are all highly creative beings, sometimes you may feel like you’ve lost your spark, your creativity, your essence, your flow. Sometimes it might feel like you’re yet to uncover it, sometimes it seems to have gone dormant or stale. However you’re experiencing it now, you can tap into your creativity through your breath, through connecting with yourself through the breath.
So, what does Creativity feel like?
Some describe it as a flow, a release, a flood, some say it “drops in”, some describe it as a spark, a fire. However you experience it, Breathwork allows you to connect with yourself so that you can tap into your inner genius, your creativity, and express it in the way that feels authentic to you.
